year-old boy finds pregnant mommy beaten to death: Alexis Armando Rojas-Mendez Biography, Wiki

An 8-year-old Texas boy walked into his Houston apartment to find his mother beaten to death. A manhunt is now underway for the suspected killer.

The boy said his father, who was also in the apartment, told him his mother was asleep and not to wake her up, the Houston Chronicle reports. The man, identified as Alexis Armando Rojas-Méndez, 23, later fled.

The incident occurred Sept. 18 at an apartment on De Soto Street, near Antione Drive, reports ABC 13, in the Greater Inwood area.

The next morning, when the boy couldn’t wake up his mother, he went to the neighbors for help. Authorities arrived at the scene and determined that the victim, Ashley García, 27, had been dead for several hours. Police said Rojas-Méndez beat her to death before fleeing the scene.

Inside the apartment, investigators found blood splatters on the walls and floor. Garcia had direct trauma to the head, police said. They found her lying lifeless on her bed.

The boy told investigators that his father said he had to go to work before warning him not to wake his mother. The father reportedly added that they would “go on a very far trip” when he returned.

A neighbor said he heard arguments and “loud noises” coming from the victim’s apartment the night before she was found. Another neighbor said they saw a man hitting a woman in the apartment complex’s parking lot before trying to force her and a child into a car.

The suspect, according to the neighbor, then dragged the woman by her hair into an upstairs apartment while hitting her with a cell phone.

The suspect’s sister appeared at the apartment while investigators were still there. She told authorities that she spoke to Rojas-Méndez around 5:45 a.m. September 19. He asked for money to go to work out of town and sounded stressed, he said. The sister said she refused because he already owed her $ 800.

Garcia’s sister, who also stopped by the apartment, told police the children said they saw Rojas-Méndez kicking Garcia in the stomach with a steel-toed boot.

Anyone with information should contact HPD’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Authorities believe that Rojas-Méndez may be trying to flee the country.

Garcia leaves behind three young children.
