Said has been on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives since 2014 after he shot and killed his two daughters while in a taxi in Irving, Texas. Describing the deaths as “honor killings”, the police said the suspect was uncomfortable with the girls’ flirting with non-Muslim men.
The girls thought they were going to dinner with their taxi driver dad when clashes occurred. Sara managed to call 911 after the shooting. According to the Washington Post, he begged for help and called his father a hitman while speaking to a 911 officer.
“Help me,” Sarah said. “I’m dying. Oh my God. Don’t.”

According to ABC 8, the girls were afraid of their fathers and control methods and encouraged their mother to flee with them to Oklahoma. Days later, they returned to Texas, despite the girls’ requests to stay away from him. The girls said over and over that they thought their father would kill them.
Within a week of returning home, the girls were dead.
Before their death, the girls said for years that their fathers sexually abused them.
The police, along with Said, arrested his son Islam Said and brother Yasim Said, who were accused of helping him escape from his capture. The police believe there are others who may have helped the suspect.
“Even after 12 years of frustration and stalemate, the pursuit of their killers has never stopped,” Irving Chief of Police Jeff Spivey said on Wednesday. “The arrest of their fathers today, Yasser Said, brings us closer to ensuring that justice is done for them.”
