Camryn Amy was arrested on August 22 after a video showing a 7-year-old named Riley having his Make America Great Again hat being stolen went viral. Amy’s arrest was announced a few hours after the Wilmington Police Department announced the arrest of Olivia Winslow. Both suspects are 21 years old.
The incident occurred close to the Democratic National Convention in Delaware on 20 August. A video about the incident showed two women confronting Donald Trump supporters.
A press release from the Wilmington Police Department said Amy faces charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, twice aggressive touch, and endangering a child’s well-being. Amy was taken to court and sent to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correction Institute with a $ 45,000 bond. Winslow was also taken to court, but released at his own discretion.
In the press release, he said the incident took place at around 20:08 in 600 blocks of South Justison Street. In the press release, it was stated that the incident was related to two female suspects. A voice can be heard in the video saying “This is someone else’s hat”. Delaware Online says in its report that the video shows Winslow grabbing and throwing the hat.
A voice can be heard saying “call 9-1-1”. It is shown that the two women are walking away with hats. As the video continues, a man tries to take the hat. At this point, one of the women throws the hat. The video ends with a confrontation between one of the suspects and the filmmaker.
WDEL reported that Amy was charged with “forcefully” stealing signs from pro-Donald Trump demonstrators. The station’s report says Amy was also accused of attacking a man by “punching” in the face and causing “serious pain”. The man’s wound is described as a “small tear in his lip.” In addition, the WDEL report says Amy was accused of punishing a woman with a “closed fist” in the face. This blow did not cause any injury.

The clip showing the incident went viral after being shared by the group Students for Trump. At the time of writing, the clip has more than four million views. It has been shared by the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr. Trump Jr. referred to the child as 7-year-old Riley. The president’s son described the video as showing Joe Biden supporters as “viciously attacking” Riley. Trump Jr. added, “This is sick.”
